Medal bestowed upon the United Kingdom's longest-serving fire dog 

The Labrador was presented with the PDSA Order of Merit, making him the 42nd honoree. 

From 2012 until his retirement in July, Reqs responded to 500 fires 

while employed by Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Earlier, at the Joint Emergency Services Academy in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, the 12-year-old was presented with his medal. 

He made a living alerting people to the existence of combustible substances like gasoline and lighter fluid. 

A house explosion in Clacton, Essex, and a store explosion in Leicester 

are just two of the many events he has responded to around the nation.
